Watch Jackie & Michelle on WHAS11 at Noon
Last Friday, Michelle and I had the great opportunity to be on the WHAS-11 noon news with Renée Murphy. We almost missed it due to a crazy traffic issue on I-64, but wound up getting there just in time. Everybody was so friendly, and we were excited to have a moment to promote our book. Unfortunately, you can’t say all that you want to say in a minute or two and some of the key points we missed are below:
- Get the books for free at your OB/GYN or midwife’s office, as well as some of our sponsors. If they don’t carry it now, be sure to request it from them, and let us know so we can follow up with them.
- You can subscribe to our e-newsletter on our website. We give away prizes and keep you informed.
- We’ll mail you a copy of the book for $10, $5 each additional copy. Email your request and we’ll arrange payment via Paypal.
- If you offer a service, class, meeting, etc., please share meeting times with us so we can add them to our calendar.
- Lastly, mention that you saw us on WHAS-11, and Dede Holman Photography will give you $25 off a sitting fee.
No Cookie Dough? You gotta be kidding!

“Raw Eggs could contain salmonella bacteria and should not be eaten by pregnant women. Recipes that contain raw eggs, such as Caesar salad dressing, eggnog, and uncooked cake batter or cookie dough should be avoided.” Parent.com
UUGG! What’s a girl to do? I guess the only solution here is to wait 12-14 minutes while they bake!
I came across some really cool Q & A podcasts. There are 15 episodes total and range from a variety of topics. Dee Snyder, front man for the 1980s heavy metal band Twisted Sister and Nancy O’Dell, co-anchor of NBC’s Access Hollywood and other volunteers share their stories. Click here to download.

During the month of September, makeup artists from various cosmetic companies will be performing makeovers at ULTA, free of charge. I’m looking forward to possibly finding a new foundation–it’s about time I get out of the rut–when I get my PurMinerals makeover on Saturday. Call the Louisville store at 4292 Summit Plaza Drive at 502-326-9958 for your appointment.
I love stories like the one that came out yesterday about the mom who gave birth in her front lawn. Many people would be scared out of their minds, but it gives me great faith in the human body. Our society has taken a perfectly natural event–child birth–and made it an exclusively medical event, so it never ceases to amaze me when a woman’s body does what it is supposed to do. That was my motivation for going the drug-free birth route. After two miscarriages and infertility required medical intervention, I was determined to see if my feeble body could do something on its own. I was lucky that it didn’t let me down, and I learned and grew so much from the experience. Now, I can’t say that I would wish for a surprise home birth in my front lawn, but I’m pretty sure I would take that over an all day pitocin-induced labor while laying flat on my back in the hospital. I encourage all pregnant moms to educate themselves about the birth process, hire a doula to pamper and cheer you on on the big day, and embrace childbirth as the empowering, life-changing event that it is.
