When I was pregnant with my first child, I fully intended to go back to work, but when my employer called at the seven-week mark to ask when I would return, I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving my son. We were fortunate enough to have savings to live off of while we built our business in those early years. Without the kick in the pants that the birth of our son gave us, we may never have started our own business.”
